Every year we come together as a nation to celebrate and give thanks for the many blessings we have as Americans. As a family of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, we gather in worship to celebrate the bounty of our God. In the past, it has been our tradition to share the blessings of God in a form of bread with each family who comes to Mass on Thanksgiving. This year, we're going to do something different. It's no secret that the people of Dover and Barrington have been generous and responsive to those in true need. We know that many families and individuals are struggling to make financial ends meet and keep their families fed. This Thanksgiving we're asking you to remember another family as you do your Thanksgiving groceries. All you have to do is purchase some extra non-perishable food items and bring them with you to the Thanksgiving Mass you attend and place the food items on the carpeted area in front of the chapel/parish hall door at St Joe's. It's that simple. Your gift will go to families in need throughout the Advent season and will bring joy to someone's face. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Good Stewardship & Rising Heating Costs: At the recent joint Pastoral Council Meeting of St Joseph, St Charles and the Chapel of the Nativity, in discussion of the upcoming heating costs, a consensus decision was made to move WEEKDAY Masses to St Joseph. Heating the smaller space is one way in which we, as a faith community, can do a part in conserving resources, being financial responsible, and being good stewards.
Therefore, beginning NOVEMBER 3, 2008, WEEKDAY Masses (Monday through Friday, where applicable) will be celebrated at St Joseph Church only. |

Over the past week, Fr Damien and I recevied a great number of cards, notes and letters offering continued prayers, giving support and sharing words of thanks for what we endeavor to do as priests within the community of Dover. The kindnesses and words have been a tremendous gift to us as we try to serve you and the Lord in our parishes of St Joseph, St Charles and the Chapel of the Nativity.
So now we want to extend our thanks to you. Thank you for the generosity of spirit, the gift of your time as well as the offering of your prayers. Be assured of our own for you and your families. Together let us "build the city of God."

November is St. Joseph's month for donations of personal care items for the food pantries in Dover. We are always in need of toilet paper, tissues, toothpaste, deodorant, toothbrushes, diapers, feminine hygiene products, shaving supplies, soap, shampoo, etc.
